Obstacle courses or jungle courses?

Tracks with obstacles speed up play for children of all ages. Can you keep your balance? And crawl over the net?

Playing on an obstacle course, also called a motor course or jungle course, challenges all movements and senses. Every single part of the body has to work when children, both big and small, start playing on an obstacle course.

Physical development is important for children so that they can move easily, also later as young people and adults. If a child can control their motor skills, they have more energy to spend on learning new things at school.
Along with motor skills, the three basic senses are also trained: the labyrinth sense, the muscle-joint sense and the sense of touch. All three are important for the child to learn other skills, such as reading.

But what about all these names?

    Obstacle courses

At Elverdal, the name we give obstacle courses, training tracks and motor courses for children is obstacle courses.

Our jungle courses are most often made from the wonderful and beautifully crooked robinia tree trunks, which are reminiscent of a living forest. Robinia wood also has a long shelf life.

We think that these wonderful tree trunks help set the imagination free and create a playful space that children can fill with their own imaginative worlds.

Does the course cross shark-infested waters? Are you on your way through a maze in the troll forest? Maybe it's a space rocket you’re flying or a mountain you're climbing

Tips for building a fun obstacle course

You can put together your obstacle course to suit the individual location, the surroundings and the needs of the users. In addition to robinia wood, we also produce jungle courses in steel and wood. In a modern residential area, the combination of steel and wood can fit in nicely.

    Think about creating variety

It gives the playground many play values and a long life. It provides more challenges for different age groups, and the children will want to come back and play.

    Play with the design

The great thing about Elverdal's jungle courses is that you have a wide range of elements to choose from. In our Builder design tool, you can play with the design of your obstacle course. Go to Builder here.

    Be inspired by the surrondings

Design your jungle course according to the place so that it fits in with the surroundings. The jungle course can have different shapes. It can take the form of a long parallel track, be shaped like a square, in a round circle or zigzag between trees.
