      The good playground

Playground equipment is of great value for the development of the child's motor skills. That's why we strive to add multiple play values to our play equipment, thus engaging the whole body and all the senses.

In addition to strengthening the child's motor skills and supporting the development of the senses, the playground is a learning space where the child develops social skills through play and interaction with others. We believe that the good playground has many play values that support development, but the outdoor space should also be a free space where children can create their own worlds.

Play and movement are important drivers of children's learning, social skills and overall well-being. But a playground should also be fun, and you should be able to feel the thrill of riding on a swing, climbing to the top of the climbing frame, riding in a 'choo choo train' together on the slide or spinning fast on the carrousel, etc.

A good playground should also provide quiet spaces for contemplation and hang-out areas for small group discussions, especially for older children, or just for observing others and their activities. Parents, teachers and educational staff also need good places to sit while their children play.

Sometimes the playground is created using standard solutions, other times new play equipment has to be designed from scratch. We also design and produce custom-designed play equipment to meet specific needs and wishes. An example of this is the play equipment for LegeHavet.

      Unique concepts and themed playgrounds

A themed playground can spark the imagination and convey a historical theme, wildlife, industry or a children's story, making the playground a special excursion destination. Be inspired by Elverdal's projects such as Kilimanjaro Mountain for Knuthenborg Safari Park, Christian Frederiks Plads in Oslo, the playground at Femte Juni Plads, the fishing playground in Stavanger or Elias & Friends.

A concept can also be a strong identity or a solution that meets specific user needs, such as supporting a school's health or sports profile, developing a fitness track for the visually impaired or addressing needs in special schools. A good example here is the school on Strandboulevarden.

We work with schools, day-care institutions, municipalities, contractors, consulting engineers, housing associations, landscape architects, designers and architects. Sometimes we get a specific request for play equipment, sometimes we get a working idea and sometimes we get free rein to create an adventure space from scratch. So whether you need architectural help, a project partner or custom-designed play equipment for a bespoke theme, we can help you develop a truly unique outdoor space.

Active outdoor spaces for all ages

Elverdal develops active outdoor spaces that promote active lifestyles and socialising for all ages. The Danish Health Authority recommends that children and young people aged 5-17 should be physically active for one hour every day, and for adults the recommendation is 30 minutes. Our job is to create opportunities for this.

In addition to playgrounds for schools, day-care institutions and public spaces, we also equip multifunctional sports areas, training areas, parkour facilities, bicycle lanes and skate parks. An example of this is the parkour facility in Örebro.

Our products are developed in collaboration with professionals.

Playgrounds that blend into the landscape

We are committed to getting to know the site and its surroundings, so that your new playground and play equipment are developed with respect for the urban space and natural surrounding landscape. Our architects are trained to analyse and understand site flow, user needs and local conditions, making the most of opportunities to create sustainable solutions.

A good playground works best when it is divided into functional zones for active play, quiet play, resting and hang-out areas. We’d like to tell you more about it. Whether you want to read more in the 'advice' section, join one of our many webinars or talk to us - the choice is yours.
