Klubtorama - there’s noting better than being outside after a long day at school
The school day is over, what are you going to do? There’s nothing better than playing freely and losing all track of time in fast-paced hide-and-seek games, or just hanging out or training and chatting with friends.
The leisure and youth club Klubtorama used to have a slightly older playground with a tiled ball pitch. Instead, they wanted to have an outdoor space that appeals to the entire user group of children and young people between 10-18 years of age. It was also important to be able to use the outdoor area in winter, which meant good lighting was essential.
Elverdal's design has given the outdoor space a clear division into zones for activities, fitness and quiet spots to retreat to. Simple materials and clear colours give the square an urban look that blends in naturally with the area. In order to create a safe and pleasant atmosphere in the evenings, the parkour area is illuminated with spotlights, and benches have been given decorative, indirect lighting.

The area’s many options
The elements in Klubtorama's outdoor environment provide multiple opportunities for fun play and challenges, which train both muscles, coordination and endurance, and generally strengthen body awareness.
For older children, the urban park will challenge strength and balance when moving both over, under and through obstacles. It's a good form of training to do as a group, so you can learn tricks from each other.
For the younger children, parkour stands and concrete walls form labyrinthine routes for games of catch and hide and seek.
For young people interested in fitness, wall bars and sleepers can be used for exercises such as steps, box jumps, abs/back training.
Functions
1) Artificial grass area with a large parkour stand

8) Ping Out table tennis table that can be painted with graffiti
The design allows for a view through the play area, so that everyone feels part of the community.
Concept
Street, urban and creative are key words that describe the style of leisure and youth club Klubtorama's outdoor space, which was inspired by environments that appeal to children and young people. It had to be a place for both play, free movement and calm, where everyone would enjoy hanging out, whether you are 10-12 years old and go to an after school club, or you’re older and go to a youth club in the evening.
The outdoor space has many fun challenges, including climbing, balancing games, parkour, fitness and table tennis. If you need a break, want to read or stop
for a chat, all you have to do is grab a bench in the grass or climb onto the hang-out mats where you can sit together.
The urban style is composed of concrete walls in varying designs, galvanised parkour pipes and wooden sleepers. The concrete walls are placed so that they
do not shade trees and vegetation, and you can always look straight through the area.
A concrete climbing wall will become a landmark for Klubtorama and, like the table tennis table, can be painted with graffiti so that the young people can
put their own stamp on the place.
