Juelsminde harbour area

A new playground has been created at Juelsminde Harbourfront, where water play and maritime references connect the play experience with the identity of the location and life around the harbour.

Water play is a central feature of the playground. Children can pump the water themselves and follow its journey through a system of channels and sluice gates, changing and controlling the direction of the water along the way. A spiral allows the water to be transported upwards before being channelled back through the system. This provides a playful introduction to the movement of water and gives children the opportunity to experiment, collaborate and explore cause and effect. The maritime theme continues throughout the other play elements. Children can, for example, crawl through a large fish trap, while various climbing and balancing elements encourage physical activity and provide opportunities to develop motor skills.

Shade sails provide shelter from the sun across parts of the area and create comfortable conditions for longer stays at the playground. The combination of water play, movement and maritime details creates a varied play environment that draws clear inspiration from its harbourfront location.

The playground is both an active play destination for children and a new place to spend time at Juelsminde Harbourfront, where play, learning and the maritime environment come together.
